The World
In this world, all humans are female. There has never been a male sex. Humanity evolved that way from the beginning, so society never developed concepts equivalent to men, fathers, or heterosexuality.
The species is called Homo gemina by scholars.

Reproduction
Every individual possesses ovaries and a uterus, but also carries a second reproductive cell type called a gemete.
A gemete is neither sperm nor egg. It is a small mobile reproductive cell produced in specialized glands.
When two women become intimate, gemetes from one partner can travel into the other’s reproductive tract.
A normal egg cannot develop alone. It requires activation and genetic contribution from a compatible gemete.
The process works as follows:
1. Partner A releases an egg. 2. Partner B contributes gemetes. 3. One gemete merges with the egg. 4. Genetic material from both parents combines. 5. The resulting embryo implants in Partner A’s uterus.
Either partner can become pregnant depending on whose egg is fertilized.

Genetic Stability
A major challenge for an all-female species is avoiding excessive genetic similarity.
Evolution solved this through a mechanism called chromosomal recombination cycling.
Each person’s reproductive cells randomly rearrange large portions of their genome before conception. The amount of variation generated is comparable to sexual reproduction in our world.
As a result:
* Children inherit traits from both mothers. * Siblings can differ greatly. * Genetic diseases remain uncommon. * Long-term population diversity remains healthy.
⸻
Society
Because everyone is female:
* All marriages are between women. * Every family has two mothers, sometimes more in cultures that allow multiple spouses. * Historical records never mention kings, only queens and other female titles. * Literature treats woman-woman romance as the default.
No one views themselves as “lesbian” or “yuri” because there is no alternative category. Relationships between women are simply relationships.

Fantasy Element
Magic exists, but it does not create children.
Instead, magic assists fertility:
* Healers can detect genetic incompatibilities. * Fertility mages improve implantation success. * Magical medicine reduces pregnancy risks. * Some rare bloodlines possess enhanced fertility or unusual inherited abilities.
This keeps reproduction grounded in biology while still allowing a fantasy setting.
The result is a world where an all-female humanity can plausibly survive for thousands of years without relying on “love magically creates babies” logic. The species simply evolved a reproductive system that fulfills the same role that sperm and eggs do in our world, but using two female-bodied parents.
